My Story
Belgian by birth.
Diver by passion.
Instructor by calling.
I spent 12 years in international corporate life — project management, operations, event production — before I asked myself the only question that mattered: is this it?
It wasn't. Diving was.
I got Open Water certified in the mid-2000s, and it didn't take long before I knew this wasn't going to stay a hobby. In 2011, I got my OWSI, and from day one, I wasn't interested in just teaching people to dive — I wanted to teach people to teach. Instructor development became the thing. Still is.
Since then, I've built my career across some of the best (and most demanding) diving in Southeast Asia — training instructors in Thailand and Indonesia, across islands known for rich, technically challenging conditions. Along the way, I've trained hundreds of divers across all levels, mentored countless instructor candidates & PADI pros alike, and developed interests for technical diving, freediving, and adaptive/disabled diver instruction.
I'm currently based in Southeast Asia, where I continue to focus on instructor development and marine conservation work.
What Drives Me
People will tell you I don't teach the traditional, old-school way. That's fair. I don't take anything for granted — including the assumption that there's only one right way to explain something. If you ask me what the most important part of a pre-dive safety check is, I'll tell you to look for coconut trees. Because if you can laugh about it and still remember it, you've actually learned something.
My goal, always, is for you to understand not just what to do, but why you're doing it.
